Discover how to transfer your design from paper to the cloth to create your own beautiful design in silk organza on this one day workshop. Learn how to shape your design using a technique called Khojipgi and stitch this beautiful covering cloth.

At this workshop you will learn how to cut and piece the fabrics together using traditional Korean hand sewing techniques.

You will be working with traditional Korean silk organza that has natural slubs in the weave of the fabric.  All the materials that you need will be in the kit provided at the start of the course. Your kit will contain a design for you to follow as a guide as well as instructional handouts.

During the workshop Sara will demonstrate how to draw and transfer your design to fabric. She will show you how to create the veins of the leaf using Khojipgi technique as well as how to make the decorative flowers and handle.

 

Course materials

  • Each student will receive a kit containing a large piece of Korean silk organza and smaller sized fabrics to complete the flowers and the handle.

    (Kit Fee: £15 payable at the start of the course)

  • You will have printed instructions for the Khojipgi technique and embellishments

  • Thread to complete your project

  

What you need to bring:

 

You will need the following tools:

  • Hera marker or creasing tool

  • Silk pins

  • Clover Gold Eye Applique needles No.9

  • Large sharp scissors for cutting fabric

  • Small sharp scissors for snipping threads and cutting smaller pieces of fabric

 

If you have a rotary cutting set with an A4 or A3 board, 45mm rotary cutting tool and acrylic ruler then bring this along.

 

Additional information:

·         Please make sure that, if you wear glasses for close work, you bring them with you

·         You might like to bring a small table or clip on spotlight to work with as well.
