Bok Jumoeni (Lucky bag)
Bok Jumoeni (Lucky bag)
4th March 2023
These bags are a beautiful way to give small gifts or store things such as jewellery. Made from either plain or pieced silk fabrics with a draw string cord and finished with traditional knotting designs. Traditional Korean clothing, known as Hanbok did not have pockets, so small bags were used to carry coins, and this may be the reason why they were known as lucky bags.
Kit: £9
Venue: Hove
Traditional Korean clothing, known as Hanbok did not have pockets, so small bags were used to carry coins, and this may be the reason why they were known as lucky bags.
These were made from fabrics left over from making clothing, so silk or ramie were commonly used.
In this workshop you will learn how to piece your bag together using Homjil seam. You will learn how to draw the top of the bag together with a cord and how to finish these with decorative knots.
